Is There a Victory in Sight Reference Operation Iraqi Freedom?
Given the current situation, what would be the best means in obtaining "victory" or a positive outcome?

Victory for who? It has been a lose, lose situation for both Iraqi's and American's. The loss of life, families devastated and billions of dollars wasted. For what, what have we accomplished from this?
I served in both Operation Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. We declared war on terrorism and there will never be victory. OIF and OEF are considered campaigns on the war on terror. We will be in Iraqi until this world as we know it ends....
No matter who the president is! The bible tell it so...
Victory is not the goal. War has been going on since mankind so back to the question "is there a victory in sight". I would say yes the war will end soon but no victory for either side. Just to let you know I have been to Iraq 3 times and fought for the city of Fullujah. I lived with and worked with the Iraqi Army. Capt "Bat" USMC
A friend asked me to post a blog commenting my two cents on the war, and our friends and family in Iraq. I've always been against any kind of war. Wars abroad and wars here at home. And if nothing else I'd like to leave you all with the following, I guess i'm just not sure how to say it any better than this:
WAR - by Bob Marley
Until the philosophy which hold one race superior And another Inferior Is finally And permanently Discredited And abandoned - Everywhere is war -
That until there no longer First class and second class citizens of any nation Until the colour of a man's skin Is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes - Me say war.
That until the basic human rights Are equally guaranteed TO ALL, Without regard to race - there's a war.
That until that day The dream of lasting peace, World citizenship Rule of international morality Will remain but a fleeting illusion to be pursued, But never attained - Now everywhere is war.
It's me again and just so you know i'm a SSG in he US military. There is no victory to be had in Iraq. We will not win a war on Ideology with bullets and bombs. I mean just ask the guys who participated in the Crusades.
Victory in the War on Terror, especially as it applies to the battle in Iraq, will not look or feel like a traditional "victory". For us to understand if we have been successful, we must understand the enemy's perspective, and deny that them their vision and goals.
America is now lodged in Iraq and is without a doubt involved in full spectrum operations against al-Qaeda and other factions. Regardless of how we may feel about the reasons for initiating combat operations in Iraq, we are there and obtaining “victory” is critical for the future security of the United States.
I have also fought in Iraq, as a company commander in al-Anbar. My company suffered 1 KIA and 11 WIA. I only mention my Soldiers that were killed or wounded because if we think that we are going to “win” in a WWII or conventional sense, we may never see victory. About a year after I left the province, there was a remarkable change in Al-Anbar and it is now one of the most peaceful provinces in Iraq. Why? Because of a fundamental shift in thinking by the citizens of al-Anbar, a victory for freedom and a defeat for the insurgency.
If we view victory as denying terrorism the opportunity to expand and highlight the ridiculous nature of their philosophy, then freedom will have obtained victory.
It will take time, and it will take continued sacrifice.
